Chartered March 9, 1946, the North Carolina A&T University Foundation, Inc. has repurposed to the North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation. In 2014-2015, the Foundation engaged in a strategic planning process, which resulted in a July 30, 2015 decision to rename the Foundation and narrow its mission. Following the process, its primary purpose is to acquire, own, transfer, sell, develop, build and manage real estate or real estate-related projects in support of the University.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation, Inc. is to support North Carolina A&T State University’s quality environment of exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective community engagement and public service through the acquisition, ownership, transfer, development, and management of real estate or real estate-related projects.
This mission is accomplished by, among other things:
- Cultivating and managing gifts of real estate on behalf of North Carolina A&T State University and its associated entities;
- Acquiring strategic real estate in support of the Strategic Plan and Master Capital Plan of North Carolina A&T State University;
- Selling, leasing, developing, or transferring real estate for the sole benefit of North Carolina A&T State University and its associated entities; and
- Managing a portfolio of real estate to provide a consistent revenue stream in support of North Carolina A&T State University and its associated entities.

About Darlene
Darlene joined the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation’s team in October 2003 as the Executive Assistant. When the University Foundation became the Real Estate Foundation, she was promoted to Real Estate Officer. The Real Estate Officer manages the Purchase and Sale Agreements for Real Estate Transactions as well as managing leases for University Partners. Darlene holds a degree in Business Administration.
About Traci
Traci joined the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation’s team in March 2017 as the Sr. Accountant. She holds two master’s degrees including a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Healthcare Administration.
Ms. Smitherman assists the Director of Accounting & Director of Financial Reporting with the coordination of financial accounting information for preparation of the Real Estate Foundation’s financial statements. Additionally, she coordinates the University’s Accounting Department and the Foundation’s reporting.
About Sharon
Sharon joined the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation’s team in April 2020 as the Real Estate Project Manager. She holds an MS degree in Architectural Engineering from NCA&T. She ensures the successful completion of real estate related projects including renovations and up-fits. Additionally, Ms. Johnson assists with the management, preservation and enhancement of all real estate assets.
About Larry
Larry joined the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation’s team in April 2011 as the Marketing and Client Relations Consultant. Mr. Smith provides steadfast event coordination with attentiveness to detail and awesome customer service. Larry applies his outstanding communication and impeccable client support skills to coordinate on and off campus events.
About Jimeetre
Jimeetre joined the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation’s team in March 2021 as the Executive Assistant. With a 20-year skill set in this field, she handles and maintains key support to the needs of the Executive Director.
Board of Directors
The Foundation is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors consists of not less than three and not more than fifteen persons who are elected annually for a term of three years. The Board of Directors meets four times a year.
Their responsibilities include the overall management of the corporation and its assets.
